about Jessica Wessels
I am an artist based in California. I currently have a small business called Paper.and.Pen.cil, I sell and create personalized commissions and prints of my work. This space is used to post my art journey as I study many different art styles and mediums as a Studio Arts student. I mainly work with three different mediums being clay, watercolor, and sumi ink. I am currently going to school to become an art teacher, focusing on areas in drawing and pottery. The sales I earn from selling prints and commissions goes towards my tuition and supplies. Pottery
I found my love for ceramics in 2021. Working with this medium is very relaxing and has taught me patience. I enjoy each step in creating pottery. The stages of firing and glazing is the most remarkable process. My favorite piece to make is a teapot. Most of my ceramic pieces are made for functional use such as mugs, vases, and teapots. I use all of my ceramics, most of them on the daily. My preferred method using clay is throwing on the wheel, specifically throwing off the hump (a large mound of clay).
painting
I love working with watercolor, it is my preferred medium of paint. I have been using watercolor since I was young, about three years ago I started using it more frequently to add color to my ink illustrations. Subtle hints of color soon became a full-page paintings. I tend to add watercolor to most of my recent illustrations. OccasionallyI paint with acrylic or oil paint.
